The Process

Pre-Production:
The first thing we need to do is get together for a free, no-obligation consultation.  We can’t help you create the perfect project until we know exactly what you’re looking to achieve.

You might need a simple outline, help organizing pictures and other materials, or your project may require a complete script.  Regardless, we have the experience to help you get where you want to go.  By putting a plan in place right off the top it’s going to be easier to achieve your goals and, ultimately, make sure you’re thrilled with the finished product.

We’ll also determine exactly what needs to be shot at this point and come up with a schedule for getting it done.  Do you have a birthday party or a basketball game to videotape?  Do we need to interview a family member or coach?  These are the types of questions we’ll need to answer in order to set a schedule and develop a timeline for completing your project.

The length of your video is extremely important as well.  We need to determine your audience and your goals in this initial consultation.  These are questions that must be answered to prescribe the best way to get to the finished video you’re imagining.  If this is a video of your daughter’s dance recital just for your family’s viewing – the longer the better!  If, however, you’re trying to impress a coach or administrator with a scholarship video, we need to tighten things up and get right to the point.

Production:
Once we have a plan in place, production is simply gathering all the pieces of the project: videotaping your child's field trip, conducting on-camera interviews, selecting music, choosing photos and slides, videotaping trophies and awards.  These are all examples of the things we’ll need to collect and capture digitally using the latest in high-definition technology.

Post-Production:
With our editing suite, virtually anything you imagine can be created.  If you want to add special effects, we can do it.  Animations, narration, 3D motion graphics, just to name a few, are all within our capabilities.

We’ll use Final Cut Studio 2 to edit your video.  This is the same software being used in film, Hollywood entertainment and television news to create stunning visuals with unparalleled creativity.

DVD authoring is also part of post-production.  We can create a DVD with the same features (chapters, scene selection, etc.) that you’d find in a Hollywood film.

You can choose to be as active in the editing process as you’d like.  If you want to actually pick out the clips and the order they’ll appear, that’s not a problem.  You can also choose to let us put the project together for you.  After our pre-production consultation, it shouldn’t be a problem for us to understand the direction you want to take.  Regardless, you’ll have the opportunity to review your video at appropriate times throughout the process.

Cost:
It's probably less expensive than you think.  My current hourly rate is just $20/hour.  If you call other video production companies in the Treasure Valley, they'll quote you an hourly rate anywhere from four to five times that.  I'm inexpensive because I typically prefer to work with individual families rather than corporate clients.  You can call me for a free, no-obligation consultation.  Once I know what you'd like the finished product to look like, I can give you an exact estimate.

A number of factors will determine the cost of the final product.  After our initial consultation, we’ll present you with an estimated timeline and cost.  Depending on the scope of your project, it could take 3 hours or 30 hours to complete.  How many discs do you need?  Would you like the video posted to the Internet?  Any and all of this will have a bearing on the cost of the project.

Regardless, once you decide you’d like to move forward, we’ll require 50% down to schedule shoots and begin the production process.  Our initial cost estimate is just that – an estimate.  That said the total cost will never exceed what we provide for you initially.  Any additional costs will be approved by you.

Summary:
We hope this at least gives you a general overview of what we do and how we do it.  Feel free to call today (208) 340-4388 to schedule your free, no-obligation consultation and we can address your questions more specifically.
